Fritz Haber
1868–1934 · Ammonia from air — and a dual ledger
Germany
Haber found how to stitch nitrogen from the air to hydrogen. Bosch scaled it. Fertilizer from that process feeds a large share of living people. The same chemistry fed explosives, and Haber also led gas warfare. Chronotech keeps both columns. A wheel-turner is not a saint.

Why it mattered
- Broke the manure-and-Chile-nitrate limit on harvests.
- Forces the ethics question into the same article as the chemistry.
